Services

Using a holistic and integrative approach, I combine various therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each of my clients. Using a combination of traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, brainspotting, and other somatic-based therapies, I help guide individuals towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. By exploring the mind-body connection, clients can heal past wounds, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and build more fulfilling connections with both themselves and others.

With a specialization in family of origin issues, trauma, substance abuse, codependency, and self-esteem, I provide a nurturing space for adult individuals seeking to heal from past experiences. As much of our wounding happens within relationships, I believe in the healing powers of healthy relationships as well. What that means for me is that I prioritize the relationship that I have with all those who come to work with me. We will do this work together as a team. Through gentle and compassionate exploration, I seek to support clients in untangling messy emotions and belief systems, as they move towards living an authentic and grounded life.

Recovery Support

As a person living in long-term recovery as well as a professional with nearly a decade of experience working in the treatment field, I have a passion for supporting others who have suffered from substance abuse. Our work together would include collaboration on a tailor-made relapse prevention plan, cultivating a life worth staying sober for, and addressing the underlying issues that often are at the root of addiction.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness practice is a powerful tool that involves bringing one's attention and awareness to the present moment, without judgment or attachment. It is about cultivating a state of heightened consciousness and observing thoughts, feelings, and sensations as they arise, without getting caught up in them.

I love teaching my clients mindfulness skills for lots of reasons. Most importantly, it fosters a different kind of relationship my clients have with themselves, moving away from harsh critiques and judgment and more towards curiosity and self-compassion. Mindfulness practice also strengthens our ability to self-regulate our emotions.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a cutting-edge therapeutic approach that taps into the brain's natural capacity to heal and process trauma, emotional distress, and various psychological issues. Developed by Dr. David Grand, brainspotting involves identifying and targeting specific "brainspots" in the individual's visual field that correlate with unresolved trauma or emotional blockages.

By focusing attention on these brainspots, which can be accessed through eye positioning, clients access deep layers of emotional and sensory experiences. Brainspotting activates the brain's innate ability to reprocess and release stored trauma or distress, facilitating profound healing and transformation.

SomEx

Also known as Somatic Experiential Therapy, this therapeutic intervention was created by Kent Fisher and Michelle Rappaport. It uses an inter-relational model of somatic (body) awareness and experiential activities. It is highly effective in working with substance abuse, trauma, and attachment disorders, with an emphasis on emotional regulation.

From the SomEx perspective, we will not only explore the story in your head, but also the story that your body has to share. This is also known as Bottom-up processing, which can be very helpful for those who do not have conscious memories of distressing events.

IFS- Informed

IFS, or Internal Family Systems therapy, is an approach that focuses on the inner dynamics of an individual's mind. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS views the mind as composed of various "parts" or subpersonalities, each with its own thoughts, emotions, and motivations. These parts can interact with one another, sometimes causing internal conflict and distress.

IFS-informed therapy aims to cultivate a compassionate and non-judgmental relationship with these parts, facilitating their understanding, communication, and healing. In session, I help my clients explore and navigate their internal system, identifying and addressing protective parts, wounded parts, and their underlying beliefs. By facilitating the integration and harmonious cooperation of these parts, IFS-informed therapy supports individuals in achieving self-awareness, self-compassion, and a greater sense of wholeness and well-being.
